21 february 2005 back
we have a new computer, configured well enough to do what i need to do. we have nominal health, after everyone suffered through a head cold, a stomach virus, a chest cold, the resurrection of the stomach virus, and a head cold. and we have a new cat, who is the sweetest thing ever. we picked her out at the humane society on valentine's day, ergo her moniker: valentina. or vali-girl. or vali-cat, depending on our various moods. she is very good with sophie, playing for hours at a time and even seems to be resigned to being picked up rather awkwardly several times a day.
there has been a nominal amount of knitting, as well. i finished the bag for the coworker, and she likes it so much she is going to have me make another, perhaps two, for her friends. they are so easy, and yet the reactions they get make it seem as though i have accomplished something really special.
another coworker is going to kazakhstan later this year, to adopt two children, a brother and sister. it will most likely still be cold so i whipped up a couple of wool hats, with chenille accents. i think the pattern is from little badger knits, and i have decided it is my new favorite children's hat pattern -- very easy, and easy to customize with various motifs. sophie was so taken with the hats i immediately had to make her one with a heart, albeit a slightly differently shaped heart; i made the first wider than it should have been, but no one was the wiser.
and finally, i have been working again on the boolund, my interpretation of klaralund, done for my daughter. after seeing laura's cardiganized version, i think i am heading in that direction. flying totally by the seat of my pants, having never seen the actual pattern, i am also dealing with not enough yarn of any one sort, and my daughter's never ending growth spurts. we'll see how it all works out in the end...
09 february 2005 dead in the water
the home computer has died a grizzly death. as of last night we have a new one, but i have yet to get it all configured, so no updates for a little while longer...
