green.girl knitting: commentary

24 august 2005 instant gratification

what do you get when faced with a long boring meeting, a knitting bag left at home, a skein of acrylic but strangely soft yarn that was left on your desk once, and a pair of size 6 needles of different lengths? a one skein wonder! child-size!

24 august 2005 like a snail

in the time since i last wrote here, we've gone to a mariners game, a buster keaton silent movie double feature, charlie and the chocolate factory at imax, swimming lessons, my company picnic, remlinger farm and untold and myriad other wonderful places. summer is fun.

i also finished knitting the last strip of spohie's blanket. and i've knit the edging on three of the edges. so one more evening with four rows of garter stitch and then it's time for the backing!

the harry potter scarf is moving slowly along. looking at the current length, almost one full ball of burgundy and gold used, made me nervous that i was going to run out before i made it through two scarfs. so i ordered more!

and this is the negative progress on the baby sweater. i was more than halfway up the back, when i realized i was knitting the twisted stitches absolutely incorrectly. grrrrrrrr. i was so annoyed with myself that i didn't even look at it for two weeks. i should probably get a move on...

i'm almost up to the fourth stripe of the first harry potter scarf, but i can't find it for a picture. i'm sure you can imagine it: burgundy, gold, burgundy. and i've started the final stripe for the maisy blanket. we found a bright blue fleece for the backing last week so the pressure is once again on as the whole blanket concept has reblipped its way onto sophie's radar screen.

this is the beginning of the trellis baby sweater from knitty. a coworker is expecting her first grandchild and asked if i would make him a hat and cardigan. i should probably have gone with something more simple so i don't have to sweat another deadline, but what the hey!
