green.girl knitting: commentary

30 april 2006 time warp

i haven't given up on the baby cardi, but i think it has given up on me. i've hit that wretched place where one knits and knits and knits and knits and there is seemingly no progress at all. i am halfway through the major increases in the sleeve and it looks like it might cover one chubby wrist and nothing more. sigh. must keep going...

on the other hand, the nice thing about bulky yarn is that progress is easier to see. i'm about halfway through the first skein and things are looking quite nice.

28 april 2006 red

i just realized the end of the school year is hurtling towards us. and sophie will need a present for her most wonderful kindergarten teacher. therefore, knitting must commence. but before the knitting could commence, i had to order yarn, once again breaking the yarn buying moratorium. in my defense, there existed absolutely no red yarn in the stash, and sophie insisted it must be red for a red loving mrs. t.

5 skeins of garnet yarn from handpaintedyarn.com and we are off to the races.

22 april 2006 cotton.tailed

working for a living remains highly over-rated. and remains a major impediment in the realm of knitting production. i've finished both fronts for the baby cardi, and have cast on and just started the sleeves. it may be finished before the baby boy goes to kindergarten.

in other news, after we had finished dying eggs for easter, there was dye left over. dye + yarn + a spare few minutes to myself while the small child was watching peter cottontail = very bright yarn.

sophie has decreed it shall be knit into something for her. we are currently vascillating between a rainbow purse and a rainbow tank top.
