green.girl knitting: commentary

28 august 2006 conspicuous lack

you might notice there is no photo of a completed cardigan for a baby boy. it has been momentarily misplaced. all the seams are done, the buttons are in the bag with the sweater, along with a needle that proved to have too large an eye to pass through the shanks of the buttons. i had it at work, i had it in the car. it might well be in the car, come to think of it, as i was going to take it with me when we went to portland. i'll have to dig around in the trunk.

in the meantime, i've finished one strip of the easter dye, and have started a second. i think it will end up being a cardigan for sophie, something along the lines of the below; i've got plenty un-dyed yarn of the same type, so filling in with natural seems to be in order.

and, because i wanted to knit, and the current knitting projects could not be found, i started something new. i think it will be a felted bag. if it felts. the yarn purports to be 100% wool, handwash only, so it should. but it is also decades old, so i'm not sure i trust it.

i've been working on a few other things as well. i have yet to decide if they will ultimately reside here, or if i shall make them their own happy web home elsewhere on the site.

07 august 2006 going blind

carpal-tunnel. enough said.

all pieces of the baby boy cardigan are knit. and the shoulders and sleeves are all seamed. so i am just waiting for some bright light and a relatively painfree day in the hands before i do the side seams. those tiny little stitches are quite the pain to see in a poorly lit room.

i'm still dwelling on the easter dyed yarn creation.
