green.girl knitting: commentary

31 march 2008 one

tragic. just one entry this month. but one is better than none!

there has been knitting on the shrug, a lot of knitting, actually. i had to have glass replaced in my car after some thugs smashed and grabbed my gps, so i worked on it while waiting for the repairs. i think one or two more inches will make it broad enough but i'll have to devise a way to try on the two piecess. a judicious use of safety pins, maybe... no picture as it is currently buried in the corner.

i do have a picture, however, of the reknit brown striped scarf. i went with a broken rib and i just need to weave in the ends and it shall be done. i'd have thought my need for scarves would be waning this time of year, but there was snow last week and a half hour of hail just now, so scarves are still in order.

i've also started a new sock, as my feet seem to be cold no matter what the actual temperature might be. i am absolutely loving this yarn - very very soft and it knits up like a dream. i was just going to go with a vanilla, plain sock, but then thought i might like a little ribbing on the sides, to help the sock sit more tightly on my foot, and then the rib seemed like it might be a little boring and so it became some sort of twisted stitching. i didn't actually have any instructions for twisted stitches so i improvised. i like the columns on the left better than the right and as they are for me, i may change so that all the twisted columns are twisted the same way from this point forward.

i am so loving this colorway -- whimzy pinzy 2 socks @ once in copper patina, bought from sonny and shear.

life is looking to remain incredibly busy for the next month or so, but hopefully there will some time to attend to the blog. i need to finish up the list of 2007 objects, get them all indexed and whatnot.
