so, i bought new yarn and i wanted to make a scarf. not just any scarf, but the ubiquitous chevron scarf from last-minute knitted gifts. i wound the skeins into balls, found the needles, sat down and for whatever reason took four tries to get it cast on. i knit the border, i started the pattern and then i saw it -- the 'purl' bumps from the kfb maneuver. i tried to ignore it, but the bumps, they mocked me.
so i thought i will skip the kfb and will instead k1, yo! but the holes, they made it all loose and sloppy at this gauge.
you know what happened next:
i may or may not try again at a tighter gauge with the yarnovers. or i might change the whole plan and knit a different scarf. but i am determined to have a scarf with these two yarns, all stripey and gradienty and earthy loveliness.
then i cast on for a completely different scarf. i am attempting to plan ahead and have the present for sophie's teacher done before june, so there will not be a need for frantic last minute knitting. i have no idea what pattern this is as the knitting bag is currently hiding; i made a good start while we were away for the weekend at camano island but have yet to touch it since. i have a business trip next week, so it will come along, as will the stalled hawk socks. mayhaps there will be some time for progress...
