green.girl knitting: commentary

21 june 2009 some

in all fairness, i must admit i have not had the knitting mojo of late. it may have to do with the excessive amount of time i have had to spend at work, it may have something to do with the general numbness and lack of nimbleness of my hands, or it may just be a passing thing. in any event, the only knitting has been the sort that is required as one has to present something knitted.

so, here it is, a woodland shawl for s's third grade teacher. as all previous teachers have received knit goods at the end of the year, i couldn't very well stop, could i? this shows the color the best:

while this shows the stitches a bit better. it was a lovely pattern, very easy to memorize, and i made it both a little narrower and a little longer than the original. it used up an entire skein of classic elite alpaca sox [don't have the colorway, but it is rust, in case you couldn't tell].

i finally bought myself some blocking wires what with deciding lace was no longer the enemy and this was the first time i used them. very fun! unfortunately, the cat also finds them very fun so we had a few 'confrontations' while i was pinning things out. and by 'confrontations' i mean i yelled and she looked at me as if i were crazy.
