19 march 2010 for the feet
sometimes when i am at a conference i have a lot of time to knit while listening to various presentations. and sometimes it seems i have little time at all as there are a lot of breaks and breakouts and one-on-ones with clients that stop me from knitting. this one was rather middle of the road.
i did get the first sock past the heel, and started the second sock. i actually started the second sock about five times, as i just could not get it right, but eventually i made it past the first three rows and past the toes and am now round and rounding my way towards another heel.
09 march 2010 two
i am running out the door for an early flight to atlanta, but wanted to show we now have as matching set of sleeves. go sleeves!
i am a little worried about the weight of the sweater, especially in regards to it pulling the yoke off my shoulders. may have to work a stabilizing trick or two...
06 march 2010 sleeve
i have achieved a chunky sleeve.
hopefully i can achieve a second as this time i remembered to take notes about what i was doing. there is one cryptic bit, written weeks ago, but i think i have a way to verify what i meant as i knit sleeve number two. here's hoping! i mirrored the pattern from the yoke on the edge of the sleeve after deciding that i didn't want a stockinette rolled edge, or a plain garter stitch edge. i think it looks rather lovely, in fact, and i am sorely tempted to stay up all night to make the other sleeve so i can be twice as lovely.
but i shan't. i'm not even sure what i thought this photo would show -- maybe an idea of the bracelet length of the sleeve, or the state of the sweater in its entirety -- but whatever it was, i took the trouble to take the bloody picture, so i'm putting it up.
02 march 2010 love
my love was with me last weekend when we happened upon a ben franklin store. and in that store, there was to be found some yarn. yarn he liked, liked a lot. and so, after years of offerings, he has finally decided that he would like a pair of hand knit socks, would like them very much indeed. i shall knit my love some socks.
i have yet to find the repeat in this yarn. maybe it doesn't have one! it is lovely to knit, firm yet soft, and in theory good for me as there is aloe in the yarn.
in other work: i need to do some mending. this is the easy one, a small hole on the heel. but it looks like the whole area is wearing a little thin, so i may have to go with a patch.
this is the major reconstruction. i wore these with a pair of boots that just ate the heels up. i have yarn left over, so i think i may pick up, as if i were going to put in an fterthought heel, and make new heels. the construction will be a little weird as there is an existing heel section that will become more of an achilles heel section, but they were loose, so i think it may work.
and if it doesn't? i can always wear them with bad boots...
