as feared, and expected, the sweater is too wide, and a little too short.
it doesn't look too bad in this shot...
but in this one you can see the width. plenty of people would be fine with it, especially as it would make it wearable for longer, but the small child intensely dislikes loose clothing; all things in her world must be form fitting. on the plus side, the neckline is exactly as she wanted.
re-knitting shall commence anon...

all this year's knitted gifts have now been distributed!
this was the final pair of wrist warmers, knit from the leftovers of the baby sweater i knit last year.
the sweater that is currently on unauthorized leave. if i don't find it soon, get the buttons on and mail it out, it won't fit the swiftly growing girl for which it was intended. i really need to dig through some piles...
after giving away all the lovely wrist warmers, there was a void. so i started a pair for myself. details eventually.

first post of 2011! let the year be filled with much knitting.
this sweater still refuses to behave. i measure, i look at gauge, i calculate, i try it on the child and still it is going to be both too big and probably a little too short. but i shall complete it anyhow and then decide its ultimate fate.
this was my christmas present to myself: wollmeise. probably not the colors i would have chosen given the opportunity to slowly browse and fondle, but beggars who finally get the announcement of availability at just the right moment cannot be choosers.
i have no idea what i shall make of them...
