green.ketzle.net: knitting

this will be the third year i've gone to camp, and i am rather looking forward to it. month 1 [june 1-30] is for using a single skein of a yarn new to me. i am scheduled for surgery on june 28, and i am hoping to have a lovely pair of new socks to keep my feet warm in the air-conditioned hospital. i'll be there for at least two nights, and i would prefer not to wear the funky little booties they provide.

i don't have a pattern in mind. i might just go as plain jane as possible, or i might throw in a little flair. flair that no one would ever see but me for the most part, but it never hurts to impress your nurse.

at least the knitting part. the pattern calls for a sewn bindoff and i almost blew it off, thinking it wouldn't make that much difference. but then i thought i might need the extra stretchiness as i had already changed the bottom to incorporate a few rows of garter stitch interrupted by a row of k2t/yo and so found a needle and started.

and i sewed. and tried not to tangle the long length of yarn. and sewed some more. and still made it only halfway through before i gave up for the moment. i'll have time this weekend when the child is away and my behind is parked on the couch finally catching up on all the walking dead episodes we have piled up on the dvr.

first poolside knitting of the season!

and probably the last for a while as it is not at all warm out and the weather is to be even worse for the next ten days or so. and then the small child will be out of town for a weekend. but i am gathering my rosebuds while i may, and knitting away in the almost sun and i am making real and actual progress.

see? no way are my hands getting that black if i weren't knitting and knitting and knitting...

the end, it might be in sight.

eventually i will finish.

one repeat of the feather and fan done, as many more as the yarn will let me knit to go.
