13 october 2013 liebchen
there have been hints of knitting.
the small child is in the middle of softball season, and so i started a small transportable project for those hours spent in the bleachers, when i am not obsessively taking pictures, hoping to catch her in the act of the perfect hit/catch/what have you.
the last time my mama went to germany, my darling cousin bettina sent back with her some sock yarn. and now finally, i am making some new socks from it. the weather is definitely trending towards cold at night, and i need some socks without holes! this yarn [peterle strumpfwolle] appears to be quite sturdy, with 24% nylon in it, so hopefully they will be hard-wearing and long-lasting.
i think i am going to try yet another variant of heel on this pair, if i am anywhere near my reference page when i get to the point heels will be required. should probably print it out just in case...

some times, i cannot leave well enough alone.
i did end up working just a little more on the crochet shawl. i wanted as much length as i could get, and i wanted to use up as much yarn as i could.
pretty good job on the second, i think there are mere yards left of each color. but it didn't really add too much length. there are times i wish i were a much smaller person, one who could get decent coverage from a crocheted shawl using 800+ yards of yarn.
i may end up gifting this one, and making a larger one. or maybe just buy more yarn and make this one bigger. crochet is nice that way -- easy to just tack on a lot more and it's not noticable at all.
