happy new year!
i have a few projects stacked up for this year, but mostly it will be a year of knitting pleasure -- when i want, what i want, just one absolute-must-make thing in the plans.
but, i would like to finish the lingering projects. this poor sock will never make it to my foot at this rate, never mind his poor yet to be cast-on sibling. i pulled it out of the bag in which it was hiding to carry me through the annual meeting of my company -- a snooze-fest that requires something to keep my mind occupied, lest sleep become a definite possibility. i've moved it into my computer satchel, in the hopes i will work a round or two here and there and eventually finish. almost at the heel now!
as far as new projects, i am looking for the perfect pattern for this yarn, three skeins of which were a christmas present from my mother. right now i am leaning toward maybe a shawl, with a matching hat or mitts or maybe both, but i want to take my time and make sure it is just right.
so, in the meantime, i started an iron man scarf/hood/mitts creation for my marvel-mad daughter. she chose the yarn and described what she wanted: fingerless mitts that were attached to a scarf, that also had a hood. i am pretty much winging it here, asking her opinion as i go along, but it is obvious i am going to have to grab some more of the dark red yarn -- she's growing at an astounding rate and there isn't enough for the scarf to be both long enough, and have a mostly red hood.
and, finally, i must make a decision about winter olympics knitting. this might be the perfect occasion to make myself complete the must-do project. i'll have to think whether i have it in me to knit an entire lace-weight circular shawl between february 7th and 23rd; maybe set a goal to have at least part of it done...
