green.girl knitting: commentary

21 april 2015 better

i don't know why i can't find a rhythm.

it's not difficult, the whole purl one slip one thing, it just confounds my fingers and addles the counting part of my brain. it is getting better but it is slow going, and it doesn't seem as though i am making any progress at all. i know slipped stitch patterns make for more compact rows, but it still seems awfully narrow for the amount of time i've spent on it.

and the balls of yarn don't seem any smaller.

08 april 2015 yikes! stripes!

i am rather liking how the stripes are looking on the wurm hat.

the first go-round i didn't like so much the transition between the aqua and the grey -- the multi-color purl bumps just jarred me. so i changed the pattern up a bit to knit 4 rounds of aqua, and then an extra fifth round of the gray, before switching to purling 5 rounds with the gray. and now the stripes look just perfect!

the needles are a little small though, and make my hands ache if i knit too many rows in any sitting. i am trying to do at least a few each night so i can finish on time.
