green.girl knitting: commentary

30 december 2015

amazingly, this was a knit-free month.

i don't think that's happened in the past 10 years. and it's not as though i shouldn't have knit, but sometimes the stars just don't align and the fingers just don't get to do their sticks and strings things. here's to a better and more productive 2016!

i did receive some lovely knitting related gifts for christmas, to help entice me back to the yarns:

size 1 circulars. i really want to knit some new socks this year. after i finish the one pair that's been half done for 2 years now... and a stocking stuffer of a row counter! i've never used this sort before but i am going to give it a whirl.

i have a sort of vague bucket list item about knitting with as many animal fibers as possible. and my mama just helped me add camels to the list! it is so soft, but also so light. i have been trolling ravelry, looking for the perfect pattern so i can knit it up sooner rather than later. i tend to hang on to special yarns, which is a bit of a waste, really. and the color of the lace, so rich! also sussing out a pattern for this one...

and finally, alice starmore! if it is the last thing i do, i shall knit an alice starmore design; the lovely thing about this book is it has both cabled and stranded projects from which to choose. if nothing else, it is quite lovely to skim through it as a picture book. i find just looking at knitting is very soothing, and i have a feeling i am going to need soothing things this year.

the belated baby blanket will be getting some attention next month, hopefully enough to finish it off. and i need to cast on for the second baby blanket, for a baby boy due in february. then i shall decide on some knitting for me. and maybe finish the second sock of doom...
