28 february 2016 not intentional
somehow, it's the simplest patterns that cause the most difficulties.
it is probably because, knowing it is simple, my mind wanders, assured i don't really need to pay attention when we all know you always need to pay attention. so the k3p3 gets off by a stitch. or on the knit every stitch side, you suddenly have a moment of k3p3.
from the front, it is barely noticable, thankfully. and on the backside, it offers a simple reminder than no one, especially me, is perfect.
i will definitely start the third skein this week, here's hoping for some good knitting time so i can maybe finish by next sunday! z's father will be back to work on march 7 and i'd like to have the blanket ready for him.
21 february 2016 baby!
welcome to the world, z!
hopefully you'll be so busy getting used to the world outside, you won't notice your blanket is not quite done.
this picture is from a few days ago; i am into the second skein, and knitting nightly. it is curling on the edges something fierce, and the ribbing is very ridgy, deep furrows! but i expect a good blocking will set that right.
speaking of blocking, i did some this weekend; pictures, and a disappointment, to follow.
11 february 2016 it's a start
i just took a quick look at the pile of knitting waiting to be blocked, which includes the pink baby blanket. the pile is much too large; i really need to find some time and space to get it all soaked and stretched and either gifted away or put away for future reference.
i was ill with the flu this week, and actually pulled out the sofa-bed for a day. it is not particularly comfortable as a bed -- a little rigid, and also a weird angle to it, feeling as though my head were constantly lower than my feet -- but it is large and flat, and if i could keep the cat off, it might work.
the cat, though, she is an issue...
although i was unable to knit while i was sick -- no attention to detail! -- i did manage to start the baby blanket for the boy due any day now. obviously, it will be late unless i develop herculean knitting skills in the next day or two. it is pretty mindless as far as patterns go -- one side is all knit the other k3, p3 -- but you'd be surprised how many times i knit 2 or purl 4 and then everything is off and i have to tink back. deep, frustrated sigh.
cat paw for scale. and knitting companionship...
mostly she just wanted to sit on my leg, since i had put away the blanket she likes best to sleep upon.
