24 october 2016 halfway
it is very convenient that the first ball of yarn ends on the same color as the second ball begins. i'd like to take credit for making this happen by judicious inspection at time of purchase, but it was just luck, i think.
i am past the first skein and onto the second and i've gone with the path of least resistance -- just going on with the same pattern i've been using of increasing every other row along one edge. i decided i like the stripes when they look diagonal rather than vertical. though when the shawl is wrapped around me, who knows what direction they will appear to run.
it is finally cooler in the evenings and i have been wearing my new socks to sleep every night. they are just perfect...
12 october 2016 sox
i have achieved socks.
in the time i have been knitting these socks, my child has gone from the 8th grade to the 11th. ha! i just went to look for the first mention of the socks, and it was almost exactly three years ago -- 13 october 2013.
they are warm and long enough to wear high or wear cuffed or scrunched. and they are done.
10 october 2016 very close
so very close to having the sock done.
i reckon i have about 15 rows left, so if i do five a night, by wednesday i'll finally have a new pair of socks. and just in time as we are due for some stormy weather later this week. not particularly cold, but cool. and there's nothing like snuggling up when it is raining and howling with wind outside.
then back to the blue shawl which is halfway done, almost.
and then? even though i know better, i'm thinking another pair of socks...
